It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.
In an insurance company specialized in agricultural risks, a negotiation procedure is conducted at the start of each underwriting campaign with groups of clients to define the rates to be applied in specific municipalities for various crops.
Before the project was implemented, this process was carried out through the exchange of spreadsheets via email. The negotiation personnel relied on the intervention of an IT team to standardize the structure, content, and output format of the files.
To address the need for greater efficiency in this procedure, we proposed the creation of a web application. The chosen tool was Oracle Apex, a low-code web development platform (requiring minimal programming effort).
The solution allows users to upload spreadsheets, dynamically adapting the system to the structure of each individual file and enabling the identification of relevant information.
Users can also guide data transformation algorithms using parameter tables and generate proposals needed for negotiations.
Finally, the output is easily exportable in a standard format suitable for sharing with clients.
The time required to validate and process these files was significantly reduced, enabling the underwriting campaign to start earlier.
At the same time, the internal IT team was relieved of these tasks, with the added benefit of making the knowledge related to data processing more accessible and shared.
